As the Managing Director of Alfie’s Driving School, I wanted to write to keep you up to date on what we’re doing with our driving instructors following the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Most importantly, we want to reassure you that the safety and wellbeing of our students and driving instructors is our number one priority.

As a driving school, we already have in place stringent controls to prevent the spread of illnesses. This includes monitoring our instructors for any signs of illness, as well as a robust cleaning and disinfection regime which includes sanitising all areas and contact points in student areas such as doors, door handles, steering wheel and controls. This takes place regularly , ie at the beginning & end of each driving lesson.

Given the current situation, we have put in additional health and hygiene measures across all vehicles:

  • All instructors have wipes, some also have hand sanitizer. The instructor will also provide the pupil protective gloves if they want to use them.
  • The instructor will make sure they wipe down the steering wheel, handbrake, gear stick, door handle  and the ancillary controls. Windows will be open to let in fresh air.
  • Instructor will incubate for 2 weeks if they suddenly become ill with the virus.
  • Pupils will not be charged for the lesson if they come down with a cough, trouble breathing or a temperature.
  • Please have the correct change for the lessons or alternatively arrange to call the office prior to lesson to pay via debit card only or bank transfer to your instructor. If you do not have the correct change then your instructor will simply deduct it for the next lesson.

For more information, please feel free to call our office.
